Tax Audit Office, Nantou Branch. In 1950 Taiwan adjusted its county lines. And on 21st October 1950, Nantou County was established. And we became known as Nantou Tax Audit Office.
In the beginning the Nantou Tax Audit Office had four divisions, one supporting unit, and two branches, PuLi and JhuShan. The head office was in Nantou County. Then in 1981, Nantou County became Nantou Town. We were now responsible for Nantou Town, TsauTeun, MingCheun, ChungLiao, JiJi,ShueiLi, and HsinYi. PuLi Branch is in PuLi town and handles tax matters for four villages PuLi, GuoHsing, YuCh and RenAi. JhuShan Branch is in charge of two villages, JhuShan
and LuGu.
On 1st September 1992, the Ministry of Finance established three tax bureaus -- one in northern Taiwan, one in middle Taiwan, and one in southern Taiwan. They are responsible for national taxes, such as, business tax, personal income tax, estate duties, gift tax, tax on certain goods, stock and shares tax, futures tax, and tax for tobacco and alcohol and so on.
Nantou Tax Audit Office was restructured into seven divisions, four supporting units and two branches, namely PuLi and JhuShan. We were in charge of stamp duty, vehicle license tax, land value tax, land value increment tax, house tax, deed tax and amusement tax. Our tax office also helped to collect business revenue taxes despite the fact that it had come under the control of the National Tax Bureau.
On 22th April 2008, the name of the office was changed to Tax Bureau, Nantou County. Now we have five divisions, four supporting units and 2 branches, PuLi and JhuShan.
